Design Tour of the South of France Beginning with three days in the ancient city of Nice, we'll visit the famous antiques and flea markets, then head into the Vieux Ville to seek out the treasures of Nice's chic contemporary design ateliers, antiques shops and art galleries. We can visit the significant museums in the area and become intimately acquainted with Picasso, Matisse, Dufy, and Leger. Leaving the Riveria, our next locale to explore is the area around Aix-en-Provence and Marseilles, to visit flea markets and brocantes from the famous market in L’Isle sur la Sorgue to smaller, off the beaten path shops and brocantes so that you can make that "Cote Sud" look your own. We'll browse and shop fabric shops, artisan's studios, potteries and glass makers. We’ll learn about the the pigments for Provençal colors and find inspiration in local art, architecture and historical ruins. In this area we might make the acquaintance of Van Gogh. We'll have time to talk about French design, art, architecture, building materials, furniture, fabrics & colors. If you want to incorporate authentic French provencal design into your home or project, we will use your plans and elevations as guides to develop your palette, find furnishings, art & accesories, and architectural elements in France. In addition, an optional feature can be a one day workshop on using your digital SLR camera....which is a challenge for all of us! I wil bring an expert instructor to you for a one on one, hands on workshop that will have you taking quality photographs with your digital camera in one day.
Explore the Markets of Paris Paris...the very name is inspiring...we will explore world class antiquing, then we'll prowl the famous flea markets to our heart's content.
