I fell in love with Provence in the South of France. The Provencals, I have learned, are sensible people who choose to live in homes that are artlessly chic, furnished with handed down items and flea market finds combined with wit and practicality, some original art, and if lucky, a few wonderful heirlooms. They love color and insist on comfort. The southern French friends I have made taught me to love pragmatic beauty in my surroundings and in the places I design.
